About Me

I create artwork inspired by the quiet and calm  of coastlines, big skies and tidal waters of Devon. I live in a slow paced gentle way as I paint, walk and swim throughout the year. I enjoy writing poetry and words often find me as I sketch quietly on the foreshores of of the South West of England.

A Cornish childhood, spent deeply immersed in nature, led me to a sense of peace and this strong emotional connection I have with it is reflected in my paintings. Here in an estuary village in Devon, I embrace the nature around me, especially the birds flying overhead.  My collectors tell me  of their own  sense of calm and stillness they feel from my work.

The colours and textures I use are those I see around me as the light plays on Devon's rivers. moors and sea.  I love working en plein air and usually have my dog Joey beside me when out and about. As I work, back in my studio, in my mind, I am always in or near the water.
